Mayfest was established to promote Chicago's German heritage. It benefits German organizations such as DANK HAUS, the American Aid Society, the Donauschwaben Youth Group, German American Policy , etc. It is a traditional German celebration of spring arrival, held at Lincoln Square.
Mayfest is usually held on the third weekend of May or during the Memorial Day Weekend. Live music is played on two stages. German ethnic music is also played during the day. Entertainment includes traditional Keg Tapping and May Queen Crowning. Besides, special entertainment and kids activities are planned for families.
As an Oktoberfest's counterpart, this festival offers you plenty of foods and drinks as well as beer gardens!
